RMGCSA Match Play Cup

We would like to introduce to you a new program for this year.  This is a chance for all members to participate in this inaugural year long event that will take place at the October annual meeting.  This will be a match play tournament comprised from the top 24 points leaders at the end of the year to compete for the traveling trophy.  Everyone has equal chance to build up points with participation at our monthly meetings.  All Points that you have comprised will be posted on the website and updated every month, so you can see where you are in the standings.  Listed below is a description of the match play cup and how you can accrue points throughout the season.

The RMGCSA Match Play Cup will be a match play tournament consisting of two teams of 12.  Each participant must have a valid GHIN and your GHIN must be activated prior to points being accumulated.  One team will be made up of 12 superintendent members and one team made up of Assistant/Affiliate members.  The superintendent team will be classes A, B, H, and R.  The Assistant/affiliate team will be classes C, D, E, AF, and AS.  This tournament will be through a points system throughout the season.  After the September outing the top twelve point leaders from each respective team will qualify for the event.  Captains are chosen in July as the trophy winners for low gross and low affiliate member.  Points are awarded as follows:

3 points – attending monthly meeting

2 points – Closest to pin on all proxys

3 points - 1st place finishers both gross and net

2 points – 2nd place finishers both gross and net

1 points – 3rd place finishers both gross and net

Point totals will be monitored throughout the year with the golf committee and will be posted on the RMGCSA website and the e-reporter which will be updated after every event.  This will keep all members up to date on where they are ranked in the totals.  If we have a tie for the 12th spot for either team, the person with a higher attendance at the meetings will be selected and the other will be listed as 1st alternate.  If there is a tie with multiple players, a blind draw will determine the final player/players for the roster.  Once teams have been selected, the captains from each team will put their respective team together for the RMGCSA match play Cup tournament.  This tournament will be held in October at the annual meeting.  Tournament play will be handicapped consisting of 6 holes alternate shot, 6 holes of better ball, and 6 holes of single play.  Each 6 hole match will be worth 1 point and halved matches will be worth ½ of a point for their team.  There will be 24 points available, so it will take 12 ½  points to win the traveling trophy.
